Resilience as Tactical Armor - RTA

The RTA program is designed for First Responders and the confronting elements of their careers. There is mounting evidence for the need for this type of training for the Police as evidenced from a brief review of the extensive material available online concerning this issue as indicated below.

According to an article in the “Policing: A Journal of Policy and Practice, Volume 18, 2024.”

“Hundreds of police officers who love their jobs are leaving the force because of its impact on their health, and it’s costing taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars a year to compensate and replace them.

NSW Police officer turnover has almost doubled since 2015, with 728 officers leaving the force last year as 1000 new recruits were sworn in. The NSW government committed $583 million over four years to deliver 1500 new police officers in 2018.”

A report filed by Triple M entitled, “WA Police Officers Quit The Force In Record Numbers Amid Ongoing Stress And Trauma”

Stated that “According to The West Australian there has been twice the number of resignations than usual, with more officers quitting in the first five months of this year, than throughout all of 2021.

There is a crucial need for Resilience Training for first responders. However, most Resilience training programs are outdated and do not take into account the advances in technology and neuroscience. Simply put, it is time to bring the training of resilience into the 21st Century.

The RTA program involves the following:

  1. In the first Module a baseline is taken for each participant using an objective (Biofeedback) measure. This assesses the effectiveness of the individuals current coping strategies. Follow up assessments are taken throughout the 6 Modules to determine the impact of training and provides pre and post training information for each participant.
  2.  Participants are involved in the presentation of advances in neuroscience and computer technology that gives real time feedback regarding the physical signs of stress as it is dictated by the mind.
  3. Using computer science, the participant has immediate awareness of the physiological effects of stress using their own individual experiences in an individual session.
  4. Participants are provided with technology to use at home as a means of ongoing training.

Confidence in the efficacy of the strategies provided by “SEEING” the physical impact of skill sets being trained builds confidence in the new skills. This is key for a participant if they are not to regress to their previous unhelpful coping strategies (Dysponesis).

It’s time to bring Resilience training into the 21st Century. Dr. Pyle with his 45 years of experience and application of these advanced technologies (Biofeedback, Heartmath and Mindfield eSense) has developed such a program.  In 5 modules, Dr. Pyle introduces participants to all these exciting technologies and applies Neuroplasticity to bring a truly new, creative, innovative approach to Resilience Training.
